This piece of work is
not just about a man who is a Legend, its more than that; it's
a document on a visionary par excellence. It is a tribute to a
complete man - dutiful son, loving husband, doting father, a perfect
friend, and the nation's beloved statesman. This book is an insight
into the life and times of a person, who dared to dream, who beat
the odds, who emerged successful when thought to be a failure,
who became stronger in spite of the many distressing circumstances
life put him through. One of the most poignant part of the book
is the fact that it teaches us to be proud Indians, as also the
fact that one should be strong and should always strive to rise
up irrespective of the circumstances.
Rajiv embodies everything
that is good, that is noble. Rajiv was supreme, just, and was endowed
with noble qualities. A warrior who never shied from a battle,
he stood for the cause of humanity, for its betterment, but little
did he know, that, fate had something else planned out for him.
He stood tall like a statesman, a benchmark in goodness, a disciple
of fairness, a gentleman at heart, a simple humanitarian, and a
master innovator, till fate intervened. Rajiv may be far from us,
but he still resides in our heart. He is our cause, he is our light
and he will always shine upon us, no matter where he resides, because
Rajiv belongs to the line of those rare statesmen who achieve immortality
by their great work.
As a tribute to the quintessential Rajiv,
we should take a pledge to work towards building a resurgent India,
in tandem. An India of Rajiv's dreams. An India that we all like
to see. An India where nobody has to sleep hungry. Where each one
has a roof on one's head and clothing to cover oneself. Once we
have achieved this, we can envisage the next tier of requisites
and move towards optimum security.
To achieve this, we do not need
miracles to take place. The basic needs can be met simply if we,
the citizens of this great country, collectively stand committed
to the fact that, we shall sincerely do everything possible to
help achieve national progress. More importantly, each one should
pledge not to allow any activity in the nation which is detrimental
to harmony, development and peace.
Therefore, the most critical
attribute needed, is an unflinching sense of patriotism and the
sense of responsibility. These two variables are the most critical,
and also evident handicaps. There is a need for the entire nation
to wake up and educate the people on the above two aspects.
We
are a rich civilisation. We have a glorious history. We deserve
to be amongst the front-running nations in the world. Let us endeavor
to regain our glory.
We wish to reproduce here, invigorating words
of our legendary former President, APJ Abdul Kalam, who has authored the
nuclear programs that we are so proud of, and, has catapulted India
in the league of strongest nations in the world: ‚Dream, dream,
dream. Dream like a nation of a billion people and not like a nation
of a million people', is how he spurs us on. It would be sad if
we, as a nation remain immune to a call as patriotic as this, coming
from a statesman as illustrious as him.
Surely. We are a great
nation and we need to dream big. Our President himself is a paradigm
of success that one can achieve by dreaming big. The restless statesman
in him will feel vindicated if he can see the nation rising up
to his call. Let us honor him by doing so. |
